The Night Green
Whitney's backyard died at sunset. We kept the pool, reskinned the yard in travertine and turf, and lit the whole thing so it finally comes alive after dark.

Scope of Work
The Challenge
Whitney's backyard was dated. The concrete around the pool was ugly, and there was nothing out there that made you want to be outside, least of all after the sun went down.
What We Did
The pool renovation was the easy part. The real call was to treat the whole yard as one contemporary surface, carrying the same travertine-and-turf language from the deck up the staircase to a putting green on the upper slope, then lighting all of it so the yard is built to be used after dark.
From Vision to Reality
Design
We laid out the contemporary look, then spent the real planning on the upper area: where to cut in the putting green and how to match new natural-stone walls to the ones already there so the addition would not look bolted on.
Build
The concrete came out and got hauled off, then the pool got the classic treatment of new plaster, tile, and coping. We laid the travertine and turf, wrapped the staircase in travertine bullnose and turf strips, cut in the putting green with its matching stone walls, and ran the lighting.
Enjoy
Come evening the lighting takes over and the yard turns into a hangout, with a putting green to kill time on, exactly the after-dark backyard it never had.
