The Challenge
Tyler's poolscape and deck were done, the finishes outdated and the deck breaking down. And he did not want another version of what he had. He wanted something modern and distinctive that would actually stand out.
What We Did
The lot was dead flat, and no surface, however nice, fixes a yard with no depth to it. So the whole design went vertical: a sunken fire pit and a stacked-stone retaining wall built real elevation changes into it, and that depth is what makes the porcelain and the lighting land. Take away the levels and it is just a nice deck.
From Vision to Reality
Design
We sat down with Tyler and chose the finishes first, the porcelain textures and the stone, picking for a look that would read modern and hold up for years, not just for the reveal.
Build
Demo took out the old deck, then the stacked-stone veneer retaining wall went up and every MSI porcelain paver was set by hand with tight, clean joints. The turf inlays, the Trex deck, and the cap and LED lighting finished it.
Enjoy
Now it works day and night. The sunken fire pit anchors the lower level, and after dark the color-changing LEDs turn an ordinary evening swim into something the neighbors notice.
