Two-Level Paver Patios, Walls & Lighting

Reborn at Tennessee National

One patio was cracked stamped concrete, the one beside it was worn flagstone, and the two never worked as a pair. We took both back to a blank slate and rebuilt them as a single paver surface across two levels.

Scope of Work

Demoed the cracked stamped concrete and removed the old flagstone
Rebuilt the upper and lower patios in Unilock Bristol Valley pavers
Double-row Basalt Copthorne border for contrast against the field paver
Low walls, steps, and landings connecting the two levels
Landscape lighting on the steps for safe footing after dark

The Challenge

The stamped concrete had cracked and aged badly, and the flagstone patio next to it looked just as worn. The two surfaces never matched, so the space read as two leftovers stuck together instead of one patio. Getting between the upper and lower levels was not safe once the sun went down.

What We Did

The fix came down to one decision: stop treating the upper and lower areas as two separate patios. The same Unilock Bristol Valley paver runs across both levels so the whole thing reads as a single surface, with a double row of Basalt Copthorne framing it for contrast. That one choice is what pulled a mismatched space back together.

Our Process

From Vision to Reality

1

Design

Before demo, we worked out where the walls, steps, and landings had to sit so the drop between the upper and lower patios would feel like a designed transition instead of an afterthought.

2

Build

Out came the stamped concrete and the flagstone, down to a clean, compacted base before a single paver went down. We laid the field across both patios, set the border, built the low walls and landings, and ran lighting into the steps.

3

Enjoy

Now it reads as one connected space instead of two, and the lit steps mean you can move between levels after dark without watching your feet.

See The Transformation

"

We are very happy with the construction of our patio. Chris was good at answering any questions we had and responded in a timely fashion to texts and emails. The workers arrived each day on time and kept the work site in a neat and orderly fashion. We would recommend Morales Outdoor Living for any patio construction.
